Paul Cigan was born on May 12, 1985, in Bucharest, Romania. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a violinist and his mother a pianist. From a young age, Cigan showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Cigan's parents recognized his potential and enrolled him in the George Enescu Music School in Bucharest. He studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Ana Pitiș, who recognized his exceptional talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. At the age of 12, Cigan won his first national piano competition, which marked the beginning of his successful career as a classical pianist. He continued to win numerous competitions throughout his teenage years, including the National Piano Competition in Romania and the International Piano Competition in Italy. In 2003, Cigan was accepted into the prestigious Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, György Nádor. During his time at the academy, Cigan honed his skills and developed his unique style, which combined technical precision with emotional depth. After graduating from the academy in 2008, Cigan began performing professionally, both as a soloist and as part of chamber ensembles. He quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and was invited to perform at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Cigan's performances were praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth, and he quickly became known as one of the most promising young pianists of his generation. He was awarded numerous prizes and accolades, including the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition in Moscow and the First Prize at the International Piano Competition in Vienna.
