Zimbler Sinfonietta is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2004 by the husband and wife team of Mark and Gail Zimbler. The ensemble's core members include some of the most talented musicians in the New York City area, including violinists Laura Goldberg and Sarah Whitney, violist Stephanie Griffin, cellist Wendy Sutter, and bassist Kurt Muroki. The ensemble also frequently collaborates with guest artists, including pianist Simone Dinnerstein and clarinetist David Krakauer. Zimbler Sinfonietta is known for its innovative programming, which often features works by contemporary composers alongside more traditional classical repertoire. The ensemble has premiered works by composers such as John Zorn, Nico Muhly, and Osvaldo Golijov, and has also performed works by classical masters such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms. One of the ensemble's most notable performances was its 2010 concert at Carnegie Hall, which featured the world premiere of John Zorn's "The Tempest."
