Lynn Kellogg was an American actress, singer, and songwriter who was born on April 2, 1943, in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of a music teacher and grew up in a musical family. Her father was a pianist, and her mother was a singer. Kellogg started singing at a young age and was trained in classical music. Kellogg attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied music and theater. She was a member of the university's choir and performed in several musical productions. After graduating, Kellogg moved to New York City to pursue a career in theater. In 1966, Kellogg landed her breakthrough role as Sheila in the original Broadway production of the rock musical "Hair." The show was a huge success and ran for over four years. Kellogg's performance was praised by critics, and she became a popular figure in the counterculture movement of the 1960s. Kellogg's success in "Hair" led to several other opportunities in the entertainment industry. She appeared in several television shows, including "The Mod Squad" and "The F.B.I." She also starred in the film "Charro!" alongside Elvis Presley. In addition to her acting career, Kellogg continued to pursue her passion for music. She released several albums, including "Lynn Kellogg" and "Lynn Kellogg Sings Songs from Hair and Other Great Shows." She also performed in several concerts and musical productions. One of Kellogg's most notable performances was in the 1971 production of "Jesus Christ Superstar." She played the role of Mary Magdalene and received critical acclaim for her performance. The show was a huge success and ran for over a year. Kellogg's success in "Jesus Christ Superstar" led to several other opportunities in the theater world. She appeared in several productions, including "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" and "The Vagina Monologues." Throughout her career, Kellogg received several awards and nominations for her work in the entertainment industry. She was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in "Hair" and won a Drama Desk Award for her performance in "Jesus Christ Superstar."
