Min Kwon is a renowned classical pianist who has captivated audiences around the world with her virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born in South Korea, Kwon began playing the piano at the age of three and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Her parents recognized her potential and enrolled her in the Yewon School, a prestigious music academy in Seoul, where she received rigorous training in piano performance and music theory. At the age of ten, Kwon moved to the United States with her family and continued her musical studies at the Juilliard School in New York City. There, she studied with some of the most renowned piano teachers in the world, including Yoheved Kaplinsky and Jerome Lowenthal. Kwon quickly established herself as a rising star in the classical music world, winning numerous competitions and awards for her performances. One of Kwon's early breakthrough performances came in 1996, when she won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, a prestigious competition that has launched the careers of many of today's top classical musicians. This win led to numerous concert engagements around the world, including performances with major orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Seoul Philharmonic. Kwon's talent and dedication to her craft have earned her numerous accolades throughout her career. In 2004, she was awarded the Pro Musicis International Award, which recognizes exceptional musicians who use their talents to serve their communities. Kwon has also been recognized for her work as an educator, receiving the Juilliard School's prestigious Richard F. French Prize for her outstanding contributions to the school's piano department. Throughout her career, Kwon has been known for her passionate and deeply expressive performances. She has a particular affinity for the music of Beethoven, and has performed his complete piano sonatas in a series of concerts around the world. Kwon has also been a champion of contemporary music, commissioning and premiering works by some of today's most exciting composers. In addition to her work as a performer and educator, Kwon is also a dedicated philanthropist. She has established the Min Kwon Piano Studio at the Juilliard School, which provides scholarships and mentorship to young pianists from around the world.
