Jordi Codina is a Spanish classical music composer born on May 5, 1975, in Barcelona, Spain. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a pianist and his mother a singer. From a young age, Codina showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. He later learned to play the guitar and the violin. Codina's musical education began at the Escola Municipal de Música de Barcelona, where he studied piano, music theory, and composition. He later attended the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona, where he studied composition with Benet Casablancas and Joan Guinjoan. Codina's early works were heavily influenced by the music of the Romantic era, particularly the works of Chopin and Liszt. However, as he continued to develop his own style, he began to incorporate elements of contemporary classical music into his compositions. One of Codina's early works, "Fantasia for Piano and Orchestra," was premiered in 1998 by the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès. In 2001, Codina was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied with Simon Bainbridge and Robert Saxton. One of Codina's most notable works is his "Concerto for Violin and Orchestra," which was premiered in 2004 by the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya.
