The Kanazawa-Admony Piano Duo is a classical music ensemble consisting of two pianists, Yumiko Kanazawa and Or Admony. The duo was founded in 2012 and has since become known for their dynamic and expressive performances. Yumiko Kanazawa was born in Japan and began playing the piano at the age of four. She later studied at the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo and the Juilliard School in New York. Or Admony was born in Israel and also began playing the piano at a young age. He studied at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University and the Manhattan School of Music in New York. The two pianists first met while studying at the Manhattan School of Music and quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music. They began performing together as a duo and soon gained recognition for their unique and powerful interpretations of classical works. One of the duo's early highlights was their performance at the 2013 International Keyboard Institute and Festival in New York. They were praised for their "impeccable technique and musicality" and were invited back to perform at the festival in 2014. In 2015, the Kanazawa-Admony Piano Duo won first prize at the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition. The competition, which is held annually in New York, attracts pianists from around the world and is known for its rigorous judging process. The duo's performance was described as "stunning" and "virtuosic" by the judges. Since then, the duo has performed at numerous prestigious venues and festivals around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and the Salle Cortot in Paris. They have also collaborated with renowned musicians such as violinist Midori and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. One of the duo's most memorable performances was their 2018 concert at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre. The concert, which was part of the theatre's "Piano Extravaganza" series, featured the duo performing works by Mozart, Schubert, and Rachmaninoff. The concert was sold out and received rave reviews from both critics and audience members. In addition to their performances, the Kanazawa-Admony Piano Duo is also committed to music education. They have given masterclasses and workshops at universities and music schools around the world, including the Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, and the Royal Academy of Music in London.
