Höör Barock is a Swedish classical music ensemble that specializes in Baroque music. The ensemble was founded in 2006 by the Swedish recorder player Dan Laurin and the German harpsichordist Anna Paradiso. The ensemble takes its name from the town of Höör in southern Sweden, where it was first established. The main members of Höör Barock are Dan Laurin (recorder), Anna Paradiso (harpsichord), Miriam Andersén (soprano), and Fredrik From (violin). The ensemble also collaborates with other musicians, depending on the repertoire and the performance venue. Höör Barock has gained international recognition for its performances of Baroque music, particularly the music of J.S. Bach. The ensemble has performed at major music festivals and concert halls in Europe, Asia, and North America, including the Bachfest Leipzig, the Utrecht Early Music Festival, the Boston Early Music Festival, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre. One of the highlights of Höör Barock's career was its performance of Bach's St. Matthew Passion at the Bachfest Leipzig in 2012. The ensemble was praised for its "clarity, precision, and emotional depth" in this monumental work. The performance was recorded and released on CD by the German label Carus Verlag. Another notable performance by Höör Barock was its collaboration with the Swedish Radio Choir in a program of Bach's motets and cantatas at the Stockholm Concert Hall in 2015. The ensemble was praised for its "exquisite playing and singing" and its "sensitive and nuanced interpretation" of Bach's music. Höör Barock has also received several awards and nominations for its recordings. The ensemble's recording of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos was nominated for a Gramophone Award in 2013, and its recording of Bach's flute sonatas was awarded a Diapason d'Or in 2015. In addition to its performances and recordings, Höör Barock is also committed to music education and outreach. The ensemble regularly gives masterclasses and workshops for young musicians, and it has collaborated with schools and community organizations to bring Baroque music to a wider audience. Overall, Höör Barock is a highly respected and acclaimed ensemble in the world of Baroque music. Its members are known for their virtuosity, sensitivity, and passion for the music of the Baroque era. The ensemble's performances and recordings continue to inspire and delight audiences around the world.More....
