Robert Comeaux was born on May 12, 1985, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He grew up in a musical family, with both his parents being professional musicians. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a classical violinist. From a young age, Comeaux was exposed to a wide variety of music, and he quickly developed a love for classical music. Comeaux began playing the violin at the age of four, and he quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He began taking lessons with his mother, and he soon progressed to studying with some of the top violin teachers in the country. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the top young violinists in the country, and he began receiving invitations to perform with some of the top orchestras in the world. One of Comeaux's most memorable performances was his debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 2010. He performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, one of the most challenging pieces in the violin repertoire, to critical acclaim. The Chicago Tribune called his performance "a revelation," and praised his "virtuosic technique and emotional depth." In addition to his solo performances, Comeaux is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has performed with some of the top chamber groups in the country, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri String Quartet.
