Kamil Sreter was born on May 15, 1985, in Warsaw, Poland. He was born into a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Kamil showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Kamil's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly developed his skills. By the age of ten, Kamil had already won several local piano competitions and was gaining recognition as a prodigy. In 1996, Kamil's family moved to Vienna, Austria, where he continued his musical education. He studied at the Vienna Conservatory under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Paul Badura-Skoda. Kamil's talent continued to flourish, and he began to gain recognition as a rising star in the classical music world. In 2003, Kamil won first prize at the International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna, which marked a major turning point in his career. The competition was highly competitive, with pianists from all over the world vying for the top prize. Kamil's performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 23 in F minor, Op. 57, also known as the "Appassionata," was particularly impressive and earned him high praise from the judges. Following his win at the Beethoven Competition, Kamil began to receive invitations to perform at major concert halls around the world. He made his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2005, where he performed a program of works by Chopin, Liszt, and Beethoven to critical acclaim. Over the years, Kamil has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors of our time, including Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, and Simon Rattle. In addition to his performances, Kamil has also recorded several albums, including a highly acclaimed recording of Chopin's complete Nocturnes. His recordings have received numerous awards and accolades, including a Grammy nomination for Best Classical Instrumental Solo in 2012. Throughout his career, Kamil has remained dedicated to promoting classical music and inspiring the next generation of musicians. He has served as a mentor to many young pianists and has given masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School in New York City and the Royal Academy of Music in London. In recognition of his contributions to the world of classical music, Kamil has received numerous awards and honors. In 2010, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, one of the country's highest honors. He has also been named a Steinway Artist, an honor reserved for the world's most distinguished pianists. Today, Kamil Sreter is widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of his generation. His performances continue to captivate audiences around the world, and his recordings are considered some of the finest interpretations of classical music. Despite his success, Kamil remains humble and dedicated to his craft, always striving to improve and inspire others through his music.
