Eric Tanner was born on May 12, 1985, in Vienna, Austria. He was born into a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Eric was exposed to classical music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Eric's talent for music was evident from a young age, and he began performing in public at the age of six. He quickly gained a reputation as a prodigy, and by the age of ten, he had already won several local and national competitions. In 1996, Eric's family moved to London, where he continued his musical education at the Royal Academy of Music. He studied under some of the most renowned pianists in the world, including Martha Argerich and Vladimir Ashkenazy. Eric's talent continued to flourish, and he began performing in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. In 2002, he made his debut at the Royal Albert Hall, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the London Symphony Orchestra. Over the years, Eric has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Riccardo Muti. One of Eric's most memorable performances was in 2008, when he performed Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Berlin Philharmonic under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. The performance was hailed as a triumph, with critics praising Eric's technical prowess and emotional depth. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Eric is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has collaborated with some of the world's leading string quartets, including the Emerson Quartet and the Takács Quartet. Eric's talent has been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 2005, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise for the future. He has also been awarded the Gilmore Artist Award, the Arthur Rubinstein Prize, and the International Tchaikovsky Competition. Despite his success, Eric remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to practice for several hours a day and is always looking for ways to improve his technique and interpretation. In addition to his musical career, Eric is also a passionate advocate for music education. He has worked with several organizations to promote music education in schools and has given masterclasses to young musicians around the world.
