Role:EnsembleThe Östgöta Symphonic Wind Ensemble is a classical music ensemble based in Linköping, Sweden. The ensemble was founded in 1979 by a group of wind musicians who wanted to create a professional wind orchestra in the Östergötland region. The ensemble has since become one of the most renowned wind ensembles in Sweden and has performed extensively both nationally and internationally. The ensemble is made up of approximately 50 musicians, including woodwind, brass, and percussion players. The ensemble's conductor is currently Andreas Hanson, who has been with the ensemble since 2015. The ensemble's repertoire includes a wide range of classical music, from traditional wind band pieces to contemporary works. One of the highlights of the ensemble's history was their performance at the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) conference in 1997. The ensemble was one of only a few wind ensembles from Sweden to be invited to perform at the conference, which is considered one of the most prestigious events in the wind band world. The ensemble's performance was well-received and helped to establish their reputation as a top-tier wind ensemble. In addition to their performance at the WASBE conference, the Östgöta Symphonic Wind Ensemble has also performed at numerous other festivals and events throughout Sweden and Europe. Some of their most notable performances include appearances at the Stockholm Concert Hall, the Gothenburg Concert Hall, and the Royal Palace in Stockholm. The ensemble has also received several awards and accolades throughout their history. In 1999, they were awarded the Swedish Wind Music Association's "Golden Wind" award, which is given to outstanding wind ensembles in Sweden. They have also been awarded several prizes at international wind band competitions, including the Certamen Internacional de Bandas de Música in Valencia, Spain, and the European Wind Band Festival in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Despite their many achievements, the Östgöta Symphonic Wind Ensemble remains committed to their mission of promoting wind music in Sweden and beyond. They regularly collaborate with other musicians and ensembles, and they frequently commission new works from contemporary composers. Their dedication to their craft has made them one of the most respected wind ensembles in the world, and they continue to inspire audiences with their performances.More....
