Lynn Glassock was a classical music composer born on May 15, 1949, in Los Angeles, California. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a jazz drummer and his mother a classical pianist. Glassock started playing the drums at a young age and quickly developed a passion for music. As a teenager, Glassock played in various bands and studied music theory and composition. He attended the University of Southern California, where he earned a degree in music composition. During his time at USC, Glassock studied under renowned composers such as Ingolf Dahl and Halsey Stevens. After graduating from USC, Glassock began his career as a composer, writing music for film and television. He worked on several popular TV shows, including "The Love Boat," "Fantasy Island," and "Hart to Hart." Glassock also composed music for films such as "The Last American Hero" and "The Great White Hope." In addition to his work in film and television, Glassock also composed classical music. He wrote several symphonies, concertos, and chamber music pieces. One of his most famous works is his Symphony No. 1, which was premiered by the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 1980. Glassock's music is known for its melodic and lyrical qualities, as well as its use of traditional classical forms. He was influenced by composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky, and his music reflects their influence. Glassock continued to compose music throughout his life, and his works were performed by orchestras and ensembles around the world. He also taught music composition at several universities, including USC and the University of California, Los Angeles. Sadly, Glassock passed away on December 22, 2018, at the age of 69. However, his music continues to be performed and appreciated by classical music enthusiasts around the world.
