The Orchestra dell'Opera Nazionale Ucraina di Dniepropetrovsk, also known as the Ukrainian National Opera Orchestra of Dnipro, is a classical music ensemble based in Dnipro, Ukraine. The orchestra was founded in 1932 as part of the Dnipro Opera and Ballet Theatre, which was established in 1926. Over the years, the orchestra has been led by many distinguished conductors, including Mykola Kolessa, Volodymyr Kozhukhar, and Vitaliy Kovalchuk. Today, the orchestra is under the direction of conductor and artistic director, Volodymyr Sirenko. The orchestra has a rich history of performing both operatic and symphonic repertoire. Some of its most notable performances include productions of Verdi's "Aida," Puccini's "La Bohème," and Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake." The orchestra has also collaborated with many renowned soloists, including pianist Valentina Lisitsa and violinist Oleh Krysa. In addition to its performances in Ukraine, the orchestra has toured extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. It has performed in prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Musikverein in Vienna, and Carnegie Hall in New York City. The orchestra has received numerous awards and accolades throughout its history. In 2012, it was awarded the title of "Honored Ensemble of Ukraine" by the Ukrainian government. It has also been recognized for its recordings, including a Grammy nomination for its recording of Prokofiev's "Symphony No. 5" with conductor Theodore Kuchar.
