Ensemble Alla Polacca is a classical music ensemble that specializes in performing music from the Baroque and Classical periods. The ensemble was founded in 2005 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for early music and a desire to bring it to a wider audience. The founding members of the ensemble were Joanna Boślak-Górniok (violin), Katarzyna Drogosz (harpsichord), and Marcin Zdunik (cello). They were later joined by Anna Szostak (violin) and Marcin Zalewski (viola). The ensemble's name, Alla Polacca, is a reference to the Polish dance form that was popular in the 18th century. Ensemble Alla Polacca has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. They have appeared at major music festivals, including the Festival de Musique Baroque de Lamèque in Canada, the Festival de Música Antiga de Barcelona in Spain, and the Festival de Musique Ancienne de Callas in France. One of the highlights of the ensemble's career was their performance at the 2010 Bach Festival in Leipzig, Germany. They were invited to perform Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 with the Leipzig Baroque Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Ton Koopman. The performance was well-received by both the audience and the critics, and helped to establish Ensemble Alla Polacca as one of the leading early music ensembles in Europe. In addition to their performances, Ensemble Alla Polacca has also recorded several albums. Their debut album, "Baroque Treasures," was released in 2008 and featured works by Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi. Their second album, "Mozart and Friends," was released in 2011 and included works by Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven. Ensemble Alla Polacca has received numerous awards and accolades for their performances and recordings. In 2009, they were awarded the Grand Prix du Disque by the Académie Charles Cros for their album "Baroque Treasures." They were also nominated for the International Classical Music Awards in 2012 for their album "Mozart and Friends." Despite their success, Ensemble Alla Polacca remains committed to their mission of bringing early music to a wider audience. They continue to perform and record music from the Baroque and Classical periods, and are dedicated to preserving and promoting this important musical heritage.
