Role:ComposerAndré Victor Corrêa was a Brazilian classical music composer born on August 22, 1952, in Rio de Janeiro. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a pianist and his mother a singer. From a young age, Corrêa showed a great interest in music and began studying the piano at the age of six. He later went on to study composition at the Brazilian Conservatory of Music in Rio de Janeiro. Corrêa's early works were heavily influenced by Brazilian folk music and the rhythms of samba and bossa nova. He was also inspired by the works of classical composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven. His first major composition, "Sinfonia Brasileira," was written in 1975 and premiered at the Teatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro. The piece was well-received and established Corrêa as a promising young composer. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Corrêa continued to compose works that blended Brazilian folk music with classical forms. His compositions often featured intricate rhythms and colorful harmonies, and he was known for his use of unconventional instruments such as the berimbau and the cuíca. Some of his most notable works from this period include "Suite Brasileira," "Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra," and "Sinfonia dos Orixás." In the early 2000s, Corrêa began to explore new musical territories and experimented with electronic music and avant-garde techniques. His later works were more abstract and focused on sound textures and timbres. He also collaborated with visual artists and dancers to create multimedia performances that combined music, dance, and video. Despite his prolific output and critical acclaim, Corrêa remained relatively unknown outside of Brazil. He was a humble and reserved person who shunned the limelight and preferred to let his music speak for itself. He passed away on June 12, 2018, at the age of 65, leaving behind a rich legacy of music that continues to inspire and delight audiences around the world.More....
