Instruments of Time and Truth is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2013 by the British conductor Edward Higginbottom. The ensemble is based in Oxford, England, and is made up of some of the finest musicians in the country. The founding of Instruments of Time and Truth was inspired by Higginbottom's desire to create a group that would focus on performing music from the Baroque and Classical periods on period instruments. The ensemble's name is a reference to the idea that music is a timeless art form that can transcend the boundaries of time and space. The main members of Instruments of Time and Truth are a group of highly skilled musicians who are dedicated to the performance of early music. The ensemble is led by Higginbottom, who is a renowned conductor and musicologist. He is joined by a group of talented instrumentalists, including violinists Bojan Čičić and Huw Daniel, cellist Jonathan Manson, and harpsichordist Steven Devine. Instruments of Time and Truth has quickly established itself as one of the leading ensembles in the early music scene. The group has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. One of the highlights of Instruments of Time and Truth's career was their performance at the 2015 Göttingen International Handel Festival. The ensemble performed Handel's oratorio "Jephtha" to critical acclaim, with The Guardian describing the performance as "a triumph of period style and musical intelligence." Instruments of Time and Truth has also received numerous awards and accolades for their performances. In 2016, the ensemble was awarded the prestigious Diapason d'Or award for their recording of Handel's "Messiah." The following year, they were awarded the Gramophone Award for Best Baroque Vocal Album for their recording of Bach's "St John Passion." In addition to their performances and recordings, Instruments of Time and Truth is also committed to education and outreach. The ensemble regularly holds workshops and masterclasses for young musicians, and they have also collaborated with schools and community groups to bring early music to a wider audience. Overall, Instruments of Time and Truth is a highly respected and accomplished ensemble that has made a significant contribution to the early music scene. With their commitment to period instruments and historically informed performance practices, they have brought new life to some of the greatest works of the Baroque and Classical periods.More....
