Pieter W. Goemans was a Dutch composer and songwriter who was born on March 10, 1925, in Leiden, Netherlands. He was the son of a music teacher and grew up in a musical family. He was known for his ability to write catchy melodies and his skill at orchestration. His music was often compared to that of French composer Jacques Brel. In the 1970s, Goemans began to focus more on classical music. He wrote several orchestral works, including a symphony and a piano concerto. He also wrote chamber music, including a string quartet and a sonata for violin and piano. His classical music was well-received by critics, who praised his skill at orchestration and his ability to blend different musical styles. One of Goemans' most famous classical works is his "Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra." The piece was commissioned by the Dutch government in 1979 and premiered the following year.
