Maria Vermes was born on May 12, 1985, in Budapest, Hungary. She was born into a family of musicians, with her father being a renowned violinist and her mother a pianist. From a young age, Vermes was exposed to classical music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Vermes showed exceptional talent and dedication to the violin, and by the age of ten, she had already won several national competitions in Hungary. She continued to hone her skills and went on to study at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in violin performance. During her time at the academy, Vermes had the opportunity to study under some of the most renowned violinists in the world, including Shlomo Mintz and Zakhar Bron. She also participated in masterclasses with Maxim Vengerov and Itzhak Perlman, further refining her technique and musicality. After completing her studies, Vermes began her professional career as a soloist and chamber musician. She quickly gained recognition for her virtuosic playing and expressive interpretations of classical works. In 2010, she won the prestigious International Violin Competition "Premio Paganini" in Genoa, Italy, solidifying her place as one of the most talented young violinists in the world. Vermes has since performed as a soloist with some of the most renowned orchestras in Europe, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She has also collaborated with many esteemed conductors, such as Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, and Riccardo Muti. One of Vermes' most notable performances was her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2015.
