Zoo Duet is a classical music duo consisting of pianist Zoë and cellist Zara. The two musicians met while studying at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City and quickly formed a strong musical bond. Their unique blend of technical precision and emotional depth has earned them critical acclaim and a devoted following. Zoë was born in London, England and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents, both professional musicians, recognized her talent early on and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She attended the Royal Academy of Music in London before being accepted into Juilliard. Zoë has won numerous awards and competitions, including the International Piano Competition in Moscow and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Zara was born in Los Angeles, California and started playing the cello at the age of six. Her parents, both amateur musicians, introduced her to classical music at a young age and she quickly fell in love with the cello. She attended the Colburn School in Los Angeles before also being accepted into Juilliard. Zara has won several competitions, including the International Tchaikovsky Competition and the Pablo Casals International Cello Competition. Zoo Duet officially formed in 2010 and quickly gained attention for their dynamic performances and unique interpretations of classical works. They have performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall. Their repertoire includes works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and many other classical composers. One of their most memorable performances was at the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway. They performed a moving rendition of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" in honor of the Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai. The performance was widely praised for its emotional depth and technical precision. Zoo Duet has also collaborated with several other musicians and artists, including the renowned violinist Joshua Bell and the composer Philip Glass. They have recorded several albums, including their debut album "Zoo Duet" and their most recent album "Reflections." In addition to their musical accomplishments, Zoë and Zara are also passionate about education and outreach.
