They encouraged him to pursue music, and he began his formal training at the Moscow Conservatory when he was just six years old. Esselson's early years were marked by intense dedication to his craft. He spent countless hours practicing and studying music theory, and his hard work paid off when he won his first competition at the age of nine. This early success set the stage for a long and illustrious career in music. Esselson's talent was recognized by many of the leading musicians of his time, and he was invited to perform at some of the most prestigious venues in the world. He made his debut at Carnegie Hall in 1952, and his performance was met with critical acclaim.
