He was the son of a music teacher and began his musical education at a young age. He studied at the Marseille Conservatory and later at the Paris Conservatory, where he was a student of Louis Diémer and Isidor Philipp. Ciampi made his debut as a pianist in 1910, and his career quickly took off. He was known for his virtuosic playing and his ability to interpret a wide range of musical styles. He performed extensively throughout Europe and the United States, and he was particularly well-known for his performances of the works of Chopin, Debussy, and Ravel. One of the highlights of Ciampi's career was his performance of Ravel's Piano Concerto in G Major with the composer conducting. This performance took place in 1932, and it was a great success. Ciampi's interpretation of the concerto was praised for its clarity and precision, and Ravel himself was impressed with Ciampi's playing. Ciampi was also a composer, and he wrote a number of works for piano, including a set of preludes and a sonata.
