Picasso Ensemble is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2008 by a group of talented musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is based in New York City and has gained a reputation for its innovative programming and dynamic performances. The founding members of Picasso Ensemble were violinist Isabella Lippi, violist Jessica Meyer, cellist Andrea Lee, and pianist Taisiya Pushkar. All four musicians had extensive experience performing in various orchestras and chamber groups, and they came together with the goal of creating a chamber music ensemble that would showcase their individual talents while also exploring new and exciting repertoire. From the beginning, Picasso Ensemble was committed to presenting a diverse range of music, from classical masterpieces to contemporary works. The ensemble's programming often features lesser-known composers and works, as well as collaborations with other artists and performers. One of the highlights of Picasso Ensemble's early years was their performance at the 2010 Chamber Music America Conference in New York City. The ensemble was selected to perform as part of the conference's showcase of up-and-coming chamber groups, and their performance was met with critical acclaim. In 2012, Picasso Ensemble released their debut album, "Picasso Ensemble: Live in Concert." The album features live recordings of the ensemble's performances of works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Dvorak, as well as a contemporary work by composer David Ludwig. The album received positive reviews and helped to establish Picasso Ensemble as a rising star in the chamber music world. Over the years, Picasso Ensemble has performed at numerous prestigious venues and festivals, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Aspen Music Festival. The ensemble has also collaborated with a wide range of artists, including dancers, visual artists, and poets. One of the ensemble's most notable collaborations was with the renowned choreographer Mark Morris. In 2014, Picasso Ensemble performed live with Morris's dance company in a production of "Acis and Galatea" at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The production was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to further cement Picasso Ensemble's reputation as a versatile and innovative ensemble. In addition to their performances, Picasso Ensemble has also been recognized for their contributions to the classical music world. In 2015, the ensemble was awarded the Chamber Music America Residency Partnership Grant, which allowed them to develop and present a new program of works by contemporary composers. Picasso Ensemble's current members include violinist Isabella Lippi, violist Jessica Meyer, cellist Andrea Lee, and pianist Renana Gutman. The ensemble continues to push the boundaries of chamber music, presenting innovative and exciting programs that showcase their individual talents and their collective passion for music.More....
