Trio D'Argent is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2008. The group consists of three members: flutist Emily Beynon, harpist Anneleen Lenaerts, and violist Lise Berthaud. The ensemble has gained international recognition for their unique sound and innovative programming. Emily Beynon is a renowned flutist who has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Anneleen Lenaerts is a highly acclaimed harpist who has won numerous awards, including the prestigious ARD International Music Competition. Lise Berthaud is a talented violist who has performed with many of Europe's leading orchestras, including the Orchestre National de France and the London Symphony Orchestra. The idea for Trio D'Argent was born when Emily Beynon and Anneleen Lenaerts met while performing at the Salzburg Festival in 2007. They quickly realized that their instruments blended together beautifully and began to explore the possibility of forming a trio. They invited Lise Berthaud to join them, and Trio D'Argent was born. The ensemble's name, Trio D'Argent, is French for "silver trio." The name was chosen to reflect the group's commitment to creating music that is both beautiful and valuable, like silver. Trio D'Argent's repertoire includes a wide range of music, from classical to contemporary. They are particularly known for their innovative programming, which often includes lesser-known works alongside more familiar pieces. The ensemble's performances are characterized by their impeccable technique, beautiful tone, and deep musicality. Since their founding, Trio D'Argent has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Berlin Philharmonic. They have also performed at numerous music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the BBC Proms. One of Trio D'Argent's most memorable performances was their debut at the Wigmore Hall in 2010. The concert featured works by Debussy, Ravel, and Takemitsu, as well as a world premiere of a new work by the British composer Mark-Anthony Turnage. The concert was a critical and commercial success, and helped to establish Trio D'Argent as one of the most exciting new ensembles in classical music. In addition to their performances, Trio D'Argent has also released several recordings. Their debut album, which featured works by Debussy, Ravel, and Takemitsu, was released in 2011 to critical acclaim. The album was praised for its beautiful sound and innovative programming. Trio D'Argent has won numerous awards and accolades throughout their career. In 2012, they were awarded the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise. The fellowship provided the ensemble with financial support and professional development opportunities. In 2014, Trio D'Argent was awarded the prestigious ECHO Klassik award for their album "French Music for Flute, Viola and Harp." The award is given annually to outstanding classical musicians and recordings. Trio D'Argent continues to perform and record music, and their innovative programming and beautiful sound have earned them a loyal following around the world. They are widely regarded as one of the most exciting and innovative ensembles in classical music today.
