Joan Blackman was born on May 15, 1985, in New York City. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Joan showed a natural talent for music and began taking piano lessons at the age of four. As Joan grew older, she became more interested in classical music and began studying the violin. She quickly excelled in her studies and began performing in local concerts and competitions. At the age of 12, Joan was accepted into the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City, where she continued her studies under the guidance of renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman. During her time at Juilliard, Joan continued to impress audiences with her exceptional talent and musicality. She won numerous awards and competitions, including the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2007. This grant is awarded to exceptional young musicians who show great promise in their careers. After graduating from Juilliard, Joan began performing with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She also began performing as a soloist, playing in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall and the Royal Albert Hall. One of Joan's most memorable performances was in 2010, when she performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle. The performance was hailed as a triumph, with critics praising Joan's technical skill and emotional depth. In addition to her performances as a soloist and with orchestras, Joan is also an avid chamber musician. She has performed with some of the world's most renowned chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet.
