Role:Composer PerformerGenre:ChamberFabrizio de Rossi Re was born on October 16, 1960, in Rome, Italy. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a composer and his mother a pianist. From a young age, Re showed a keen interest in music and began studying the piano at the age of six. Re's musical education continued at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome, where he studied composition under the guidance of Franco Donatoni. During this time, Re also studied conducting with Bruno Aprea and attended masterclasses with renowned composers such as Luciano Berio and Karlheinz Stockhausen. In 1983, Re graduated from the Conservatory with a degree in composition and began his career as a composer. His early works were heavily influenced by the avant-garde music of the 20th century, particularly the works of Donatoni and Berio. Re's music was characterized by its complex rhythms, intricate harmonies, and use of electronic and computer-generated sounds. One of Re's early works, "Cantus Planus," was premiered at the Venice Biennale in 1984 and received critical acclaim. The piece was a choral work that combined traditional Gregorian chant with modern compositional techniques. This fusion of old and new would become a recurring theme in Re's music. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Re continued to compose and his works were performed at festivals and concerts throughout Europe and the United States. In 1992, he was awarded the prestigious Gaudeamus Prize for his composition "L'angelo necessario." In the late 1990s, Re's music began to shift away from the avant-garde and towards a more tonal and melodic style. This change was influenced by his growing interest in the music of the Baroque period, particularly the works of J.S. Bach. Re began to incorporate elements of Baroque music into his compositions, such as contrapuntal writing and the use of continuo instruments. One of Re's most well-known works from this period is "Concerto in Eco," which was premiered in 2001. The piece is a concerto for violin and orchestra that combines elements of Baroque music with modern compositional techniques. The work has been praised for its intricate counterpoint and virtuosic solo violin writing. In addition to his work as a composer, Re has also been active as a conductor and educator. He has conducted orchestras and ensembles throughout Europe and has taught composition at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome. Re's music has been recorded and released on numerous labels, including Stradivarius, Naxos, and Kairos. His works have been performed by some of the world's leading orchestras and ensembles, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Ensemble Intercontemporain. In 2010, Re was awarded the prestigious Italian National Prize for the Arts in recognition of his contributions to the field of music. He continues to compose and his music remains highly regarded for its innovative and eclectic style.More....
