Joélle Harvey is a renowned American soprano who has made a name for herself in the world of classical music. Born on June 23, 1983, in Bolivar, Missouri, Joélle grew up in a family that valued music and the arts. Her mother was a music teacher, and her father was a high school principal who also played the trumpet. Joélle's parents encouraged her to pursue her passion for music, and she began singing in church choirs at a young age. Joélle's talent for singing was evident from an early age, and she began taking voice lessons when she was just 12 years old. She went on to study music at Missouri State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. After completing her undergraduate studies, Joélle moved to New York City to pursue a career in opera. In 2007, Joélle was accepted into the prestigious Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. This program is designed to provide young opera singers with the training and experience they need to succeed in the competitive world of opera. During her time in the program, Joélle had the opportunity to work with some of the world's most renowned opera singers and conductors. Joélle's career as an opera singer took off in 2009 when she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. She played the role of Papagena in Mozart's "The Magic Flute," and her performance was widely praised by critics and audiences alike. This performance helped to establish Joélle as one of the most promising young opera singers of her generation. Since her debut at the Metropolitan Opera, Joélle has gone on to perform in some of the world's most prestigious opera houses. She has performed at the Royal Opera House in London, the Paris Opera, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, and the Salzburg Festival, among others. Joélle has also worked with some of the world's most renowned conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and James Levine. One of the highlights of Joélle's career came in 2013 when she played the role of Susanna in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Glyndebourne Festival in England. Her performance was widely praised, and she was awarded the prestigious John Christie Award for Outstanding Performance. This award is given to the best young singer at the Glyndebourne Festival each year, and it helped to cement Joélle's reputation as one of the most talented young opera singers of her generation. In addition to her work in opera, Joélle is also an accomplished concert singer. She has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Joélle has also performed at some of the world's most prestigious music festivals, including the Edinburgh International Festival and the BBC Proms. Joélle's repertoire is wide-ranging, and she is equally comfortable singing Baroque music, Classical music, and contemporary music. She has performed works by Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and Strauss, among others. Joélle is also a champion of contemporary music, and she has premiered works by some of today's leading composers, including John Adams and Thomas Adès. Throughout her career, Joélle has received numerous awards and accolades for her work as an opera singer and concert performer.
