She has also been a member of the Concord String Quartet and the Aspen String Trio. Fischer and Kierman met while studying at the Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado in the early 1970s. They began performing together as a duo in 1975 and quickly gained a reputation for their passionate and insightful interpretations of chamber music. They have since performed together in major concert halls throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. One of the highlights of Fischer Duo's career was their performance at the White House in 1981 for President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan. The duo has also performed at many major music festivals, including the Marlboro Music Festival, the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, and the Mostly Mozart Festival. Fischer Duo has recorded extensively, with over 20 albums to their name. Their recordings have received critical acclaim and have been nominated for several Grammy Awards. Some of their most notable recordings include the complete works for cello and piano by Beethoven, Brahms, and Schumann. In addition to their performing and recording careers, Fischer and Kierman are also dedicated teachers. They have both taught at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and have given masterclasses at many universities and music schools throughout the world. Fischer Duo has received numerous awards and honors throughout their career. They were awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant in 1979 and were named Artists of the Year by Musical America in 2002. They have also been awarded the Chamber Music America Award for Lifetime Achievement and the Harvard Musical Association's Distinguished Service Award.
