Major C.J. Reeves was a renowned classical music artist who made a significant contribution to the world of music. Born on June 12, 1975, in New York City, Reeves showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. His parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. Reeves attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher, Yoheved Kaplinsky. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1997 and went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the same institution. During his time at Juilliard, Reeves won several awards and accolades for his exceptional talent and dedication to music. He was the recipient of the prestigious William Petschek Piano Scholarship, which is awarded to outstanding pianists at the Juilliard School. He also won the Gina Bachauer Piano Scholarship, which is awarded to pianists who demonstrate exceptional musical ability and promise. After completing his studies at Juilliard, Reeves embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist. He performed extensively throughout the United States and Europe, captivating audiences with his virtuosic playing and musical sensitivity. He was particularly renowned for his interpretations of the works of Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt. One of Reeves' most memorable performances was his debut recital at Carnegie Hall in 2001. The concert was a resounding success, and Reeves received a standing ovation from the audience. The New York Times praised his performance, stating that "Reeves' playing was marked by technical brilliance, musical sensitivity, and a deep understanding of the music he was playing." Reeves also performed with several major orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra.
