Artist Info
The Lumiere String Quartet is a renowned classical music ensemble that has captivated audiences around the world with their exceptional performances. The quartet was founded in 1999 by four talented musicians who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to create a unique sound that would set them apart from other ensembles. The founding members of the Lumiere String Quartet were violinists Benjamin Jacobson and Stacy Wetzel, violist Cyrus Beroukhim, and cellist Kevin Hsu. All four musicians had impressive backgrounds and had studied at some of the most prestigious music schools in the world, including the Juilliard School, the Curtis Institute of Music, and the New England Conservatory. From the very beginning, the Lumiere String Quartet was committed to exploring the full range of the string quartet repertoire, from the classics of Haydn and Mozart to the modern works of contemporary composers. They also sought to bring a fresh perspective to their performances, incorporating elements of improvisation and experimentation into their interpretations. The quartet quickly gained a reputation for their exceptional musicianship and their ability to connect with audiences on a deep emotional level. They performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Berlin Philharmonic. One of the highlights of the Lumiere String Quartet's career was their performance at the 2002 Grammy Awards ceremony, where they were nominated for Best Chamber Music Performance for their recording of the Beethoven String Quartets. Although they did not win the award, their performance was widely praised and helped to raise their profile even further. Over the years, the Lumiere String Quartet has collaborated with many other musicians and artists, including the pianist Emanuel Ax, the cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and the dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov. They have also recorded numerous albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of the complete Beethoven String Quartets. Despite their success, the Lumiere String Quartet has remained committed to their original vision of exploring the full range of the string quartet repertoire and pushing the boundaries of what is possible in chamber music. They continue to perform around the world, delighting audiences with their exceptional musicianship and their unique approach to classical music.More....
