Gordon Bintner is a Canadian bass-baritone who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born on May 22, 1988, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Bintner grew up in a musical family. His father was a music teacher, and his mother was a pianist. Bintner started singing at a young age and was encouraged by his parents to pursue a career in music. Bintner attended the University of Saskatchewan, where he studied voice with Judith Kehler Siebert. He then went on to study at the University of Toronto, where he earned a Master of Music degree in Opera Performance. During his time at the University of Toronto, Bintner was a member of the Canadian Opera Company's Ensemble Studio, where he received training and performance opportunities. Bintner's career took off in 2015 when he won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. This prestigious competition is open to singers between the ages of 20 and 30 and is considered one of the most important competitions for young opera singers in the United States.
