He was the son of a local musician, and from a young age, he showed a great interest in music. His father, who recognized his son's talent, began to teach him the basics of music theory and composition. At the age of 14, Pere Alberch y Vila moved to Barcelona to study music at the Conservatori del Liceu. There, he studied under the guidance of some of the most renowned composers of the time, including Felip Pedrell and Joan Baptista Pujol. His first works were mainly chamber music pieces, such as string quartets and piano sonatas. However, he soon began to explore other genres, including orchestral music and opera. One of his most significant works is the opera "La filla del marxant" (The Merchant's Daughter), which premiered in 1902 at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. The opera tells the story of a young woman who falls in love with a sailor, but her father disapproves of the relationship. Another notable work by Pere Alberch y Vila is the "Sinfonia en Si bemoll major" (Symphony in B-flat major), which he composed in 1910.
