George Perlman was an American composer and violinist who was born on May 15, 1897, in New York City. He was the son of Russian immigrants who had settled in the United States. Perlman showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of six. He was a prodigious talent and quickly became recognized as a child prodigy. Perlman's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began studying with some of the best violin teachers in New York City, including Franz Kneisel and Leopold Auer. Perlman's talent continued to grow, and he soon became recognized as one of the most promising young violinists in the country. In addition to his violin studies, Perlman also began composing music at a young age.
