Axelle Bernage is a French classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a talented pianist and composer. Born on May 12, 1990, in Paris, France, Axelle showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. Her parents, both music lovers, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue her passion for music. Axelle's early years were spent studying music at the Conservatoire de Paris, where she received rigorous training in classical piano. She quickly distinguished herself as a gifted musician, winning several awards and competitions. In 2005, she won first prize in the Concours National de Piano de la Ville de Paris, and in 2007, she was awarded the Prix d'Excellence at the Conservatoire de Paris. After completing her studies at the Conservatoire de Paris, Axelle continued her education at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, where she studied under the renowned pianist and composer, Pierre-Laurent Aimard. Under Aimard's tutelage, Axelle honed her skills as a pianist and began to explore her own creative voice as a composer. Axelle's career as a performer took off in 2010, when she won the prestigious International Piano Competition in Geneva, Switzerland. Her performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor, Op. 111, was hailed by critics as a "tour de force" and established her as a rising star in the classical music world. Since then, Axelle has performed at some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. She has collaborated with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. In addition to her career as a performer, Axelle has also established herself as a composer. Her compositions, which range from solo piano works to orchestral pieces, have been performed by some of the world's leading musicians and ensembles. In 2015, she was commissioned by the Berlin Philharmonic to compose a new work for their annual New Year's Eve concert, which was broadcast live to millions of viewers around the world. Axelle's talent and dedication to her craft have earned her numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 2012, she was awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in recognition of her contributions to the arts. In 2016, she was named a Steinway Artist, joining a select group of pianists who are recognized for their exceptional talent and dedication to the piano.
