Jan Cizmár was born on May 12, 1985, in Bratislava, Slovakia. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Jan showed a keen interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Jan's talent was quickly recognized, and he began performing in public at the age of six. He went on to study at the Bratislava Conservatory, where he received his Bachelor's degree in violin performance. He then continued his studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where he earned his Master's degree. Throughout his career, Jan has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with many renowned conductors, such as Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Valery Gergiev. One of Jan's most notable performances was at the 2010 Nobel Prize Concert in Stockholm, where he performed alongside the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. He also performed at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, where he played the Slovak national anthem during the opening ceremony. Jan has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2007, he won first prize at the International Violin Competition in Bratislava. He was also a finalist at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels in 2012. In addition to his performing career, Jan is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at the Bratislava Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, and has given masterclasses around the world. Jan is known for his passionate and expressive playing, as well as his technical virtuosity. He is particularly admired for his interpretations of the works of Czech composers, such as Antonín Dvořák and Leoš Janáček. Despite his success, Jan remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to push himself to new heights and inspire audiences around the world with his music.
