The founding members of Tex Sax were all graduates of the University of North Texas, which is known for its prestigious music program. The original members of the ensemble were saxophonists Todd Oxford, Eric Nestler, and David Lovrien, along with pianist Pamela Mia Paul. One of the highlights of Tex Sax's early career was their performance at the 1992 World Saxophone Congress in Valencia, Spain.
