Yao Ann is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant impact in the world of music. Born in Shanghai, China, on August 8, 1978, Yao Ann showed an early interest in music. Her parents, who were both music teachers, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. At the age of six, Yao Ann began taking piano lessons, and by the time she was ten, she had won her first national piano competition in China. Her talent was evident, and she continued to excel in her studies. In 1993, Yao Ann was accepted into the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where she studied under the tutelage of Professor Li Mingqiang. During her time at the conservatory, Yao Ann won numerous awards and accolades for her performances. In 1995, she won first prize in the National Piano Competition in China, and in 1997, she won the top prize in the Shanghai International Piano Competition. In 2001, she won the top prize in the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, and in 2002, she won the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant. She made her debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2003, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 under the baton of Lorin Maazel.
