Katsutoshi Nagasawa was a Japanese composer of classical music who was born on December 28, 1943, in Tokyo, Japan. He was the son of a music teacher and grew up in a musical family. Nagasawa began playing the piano at a young age and showed a natural talent for music. He went on to study composition at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in 1967.
