The Lener Quartet is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over two decades. The quartet was founded in 1999 by four talented musicians who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to create a unique sound that would set them apart from other ensembles. The founding members of the Lener Quartet were violinists Roman Lener and Agata Szymczewska, violist Artur Rozmysłowicz, and cellist Piotr Hausenplas. All four musicians had already established themselves as accomplished performers in their own right, having won numerous awards and accolades for their individual talents. The quartet's name is derived from the surname of its founder, Roman Lener, who is also the quartet's first violinist. Lener is a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, where he studied under the renowned violinist and pedagogue, Tadeusz Wroński. He has also studied with other distinguished musicians, including Zakhar Bron and Shlomo Mintz. Agata Szymczewska, the quartet's second violinist, is also a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. She has won numerous awards and competitions, including the prestigious Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition in 2006. Artur Rozmysłowicz, the quartet's violist, is a graduate of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. He has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras and chamber ensembles, including the Berlin Philharmonic and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Piotr Hausenplas, the quartet's cellist, is a graduate of the Academy of Music in Krakow. He has won numerous awards and competitions, including the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria. Since its founding, the Lener Quartet has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America, earning critical acclaim for their exceptional musicianship and innovative programming. The quartet has also collaborated with many of the world's leading musicians, including pianist Martha Argerich, cellist Mischa Maisky, and violinist Maxim Vengerov. One of the quartet's most notable performances was their debut at the prestigious Wigmore Hall in London in 2002. The concert was a resounding success, with the quartet receiving a standing ovation from the audience. Since then, the quartet has returned to Wigmore Hall on several occasions, establishing themselves as one of the hall's most popular ensembles. In 2005, the Lener Quartet won the prestigious International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka, Japan, cementing their reputation as one of the world's leading chamber ensembles. The quartet has also won numerous other awards and competitions, including the International Chamber Music Competition in Bordeaux, France, and the International Chamber Music Competition in Graz, Austria. In addition to their performances, the Lener Quartet is also committed to music education and outreach. The quartet regularly conducts masterclasses and workshops for young musicians, and has also established a chamber music festival in their hometown of Krakow, Poland. The Lener Quartet's discography includes several critically acclaimed recordings, including their debut album, featuring works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert, and their most recent album, featuring works by Polish composers Karol Szymanowski and Witold Lutosławski.More....
