Ayça Kartari is a Turkish classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her exceptional talent and musicality. Born on May 5, 1992, in Istanbul, Turkey, Ayça showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. Her parents, who were both music lovers, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue her passion for music. Ayça's musical education began at the Istanbul University State Conservatory, where she studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Meral Güneyman. She later continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance under the guidance of Professor Pierre-Laurent Aimard. Throughout her career, Ayça has won numerous awards and accolades for her exceptional talent and musicality. In 2010, she won first prize at the International Young Pianists Competition in Ankara, Turkey. She also won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Rome, Italy, in 2012, and the International Piano Competition in San Marino, Italy, in 2013. Ayça has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Cologne Philharmonic, the Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center, and the Ankara Presidential Symphony Orchestra. She has also collaborated with renowned conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Daniel Barenboim, and Christoph Eschenbach. One of Ayça's most notable performances was her debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2015, where she performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 under the baton of Zubin Mehta. The performance was met with critical acclaim, with critics praising Ayça's technical prowess and musicality. In addition to her solo performances, Ayça is also an avid chamber musician and has collaborated with some of the world's most renowned musicians, including violinist Midori Goto and cellist Gautier Capuçon. She is also a member of the Trio Karénine, a piano trio that has gained international recognition for their exceptional performances. Ayça's repertoire is diverse and includes works by some of the world's most renowned composers, including Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, and Debussy. She is also a champion of contemporary music and has premiered works by composers such as George Benjamin and Matthias Pintscher. In addition to her performing career, Ayça is also a dedicated educator and has taught masterclasses at institutions such as the Istanbul University State Conservatory and the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. She is also a member of the faculty at the Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts in Ankara, Turkey. In 2017, she was awarded the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, which provides financial support and career development opportunities to exceptional young musicians.
