Claudia Calderon was born on May 12, 1978, in Bogota, Colombia. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Claudia showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Claudia's early musical education was focused on classical piano, and she studied with some of the best teachers in Colombia. She also showed an interest in composition from a young age and began writing her own music when she was just eight years old. Her parents were supportive of her creative endeavors and encouraged her to continue exploring her musical talents. In 1996, Claudia moved to the United States to attend the Juilliard School in New York City. She studied piano performance with renowned pianist Emanuel Ax and composition with John Corigliano. During her time at Juilliard, Claudia began to develop her own unique style of composition, blending classical techniques with elements of Latin American music. After graduating from Juilliard in 2000, Claudia began to gain recognition as a composer. Her works were performed by orchestras and ensembles around the world, and she received numerous awards and commissions. Some of her most notable works include "Concierto de la Luna," a piano concerto inspired by the moon, and "Cantos de la Tierra," a suite for orchestra that incorporates traditional Colombian folk music. Claudia's music is known for its emotional depth and rich harmonies. She often draws inspiration from nature and the natural world, as well as from her own experiences as a Colombian immigrant living in the United States. Her music has been described as both hauntingly beautiful and deeply moving, and it has earned her a devoted following among classical music fans.
