Born on August 22, 1985, in São Paulo, Brazil, Guedes showed an early interest in music and began playing the guitar at the age of six. He was inspired by his father, who was also a guitarist, and by the rich musical traditions of Brazil. Guedes began his formal music education at the age of ten, studying with renowned Brazilian guitarists such as Paulo Martelli and Fábio Zanon. He quickly developed a reputation as a prodigious talent, winning numerous awards and competitions throughout his teenage years.
