Andrew Jackman was a British composer and arranger who was born on August 26, 1948, in London, England. He grew up in a musical family, with his father being a jazz pianist and his mother a singer. Jackman started playing the piano at a young age and showed a natural talent for music. He attended the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied composition and orchestration. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music, Jackman began his career as a composer and arranger. He worked with a variety of artists and bands, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the BBC Concert Orchestra. He also worked on numerous film and television scores, including the music for the popular British television series "The Bill." One of Jackman's most notable works was his arrangement of the theme music for the 1981 film "Chariots of Fire." The original score for the film was composed by Vangelis, but Jackman was brought in to create an orchestral arrangement of the main theme. The resulting arrangement became a hit and won Jackman a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement.
