Werner Jaegerhuber was a German composer and conductor who was born on August 28, 1900, in Munich, Germany. He was the son of a music teacher and grew up in a musical family. Jaegerhuber began his musical education at a young age, studying piano and violin with his father. He later studied composition with Joseph Haas at the Munich Conservatory. In 1923, Jaegerhuber became the conductor of the Munich Chamber Orchestra, a position he held until 1933. During this time, he also worked as a music critic for various newspapers and magazines. In 1933, Jaegerhuber was dismissed from his position as conductor due to his opposition to the Nazi regime. After leaving Munich, Jaegerhuber moved to Switzerland, where he continued to compose and conduct. He became the conductor of the Basel Symphony Orchestra in 1935, a position he held until 1945. During this time, he also taught composition at the Basel Conservatory. Jaegerhuber's music is characterized by its lyricism and tonal harmony. He was influenced by the music of Mozart, Schubert, and Brahms, as well as by the folk music of Bavaria and Switzerland. His works include symphonies, concertos, chamber music, and choral music. One of Jaegerhuber's most famous works is his Symphony No. 1, which was composed in 1927. The symphony is in four movements and is characterized by its lyrical melodies and lush harmonies. The second movement, in particular, is known for its beautiful oboe solo. Another notable work by Jaegerhuber is his Violin Concerto, which was composed in 1931.
