Siobhan Lamb was born on May 12, 1985, in Dublin, Ireland. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a violinist. From a young age, Lamb showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. She later learned to play the violin and the cello. Lamb attended the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin, where she studied composition under the guidance of renowned composer, Kevin O'Connell. She also studied piano performance and music theory. During her time at the academy, Lamb composed several pieces for various ensembles, including string quartets, orchestras, and choirs. After completing her studies, Lamb moved to London to pursue a career in music. She worked as a freelance composer and pianist, performing in various venues across the city. In 2010, Lamb was commissioned by the London Symphony Orchestra to compose a piece for their annual summer concert series. The piece, titled "Symphony No. 1," was well-received by both the audience and the orchestra. Lamb's music is characterized by its use of rich harmonies, intricate rhythms, and soaring melodies. Her compositions often draw inspiration from nature, literature, and her own personal experiences. She has been praised for her ability to create music that is both emotionally powerful and intellectually stimulating. One of Lamb's most notable works is her "Concerto for Piano and Orchestra," which was premiered by the BBC Symphony Orchestra in 2015. The piece features a virtuosic piano solo, accompanied by a lush orchestral score. The concerto has been described as a tour-de-force of musical expression, showcasing Lamb's mastery of both composition and piano performance. Another highlight of Lamb's career was her collaboration with the Royal Ballet in 2018. She composed the score for a new ballet, titled "The Seasons," which was choreographed by renowned dancer and choreographer, Christopher Wheeldon. The ballet was a critical and commercial success, with Lamb's music being praised for its evocative and atmospheric qualities. In addition to her work as a composer, Lamb is also an accomplished pianist. She has performed in numerous concerts and recitals, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician.
