He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly progressed, winning his first competition at the age of six. In 2003, Jan was accepted into the Prague Conservatory, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist Ivan Klánský. After graduating from the conservatory in 2007, Jan continued his studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
