He was a child prodigy and gave his first public performance at the age of six. Patrick received his formal music education at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he studied under the guidance of Madame Jacqueline Fontyn. Patrick's career as a concert pianist took off after his success at the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition. He performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States, and collaborated with many renowned conductors and orchestras. He was particularly known for his interpretations of the works of French composers, such as Debussy, Ravel, and Messiaen. One of the highlights of Patrick's career was his performance of Messiaen's "Vingt Regards sur l'Enfant-Jésus" at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris in 1975. Patrick's performance was widely acclaimed, and it established him as one of the leading interpreters of Messiaen's music.
