From a young age, Grimes showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Grimes received her formal music education at the Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied under the renowned pianist and teacher, Yoheved Kaplinsky. During her time at Juilliard, Grimes won numerous awards and competitions, including the prestigious Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. After graduating from Juilliard, Grimes embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist, performing in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. She has also performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Grimes is known for her virtuosic performances of the works of classical composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Chopin. She is particularly renowned for her interpretations of the works of Franz Liszt, a composer known for his technically demanding piano pieces. Grimes has recorded several albums of Liszt's music, including a critically acclaimed recording of his complete piano works. In addition to her performing career, Grimes is also a dedicated teacher and has taught at several prestigious music schools, including the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. She is known for her passionate and inspiring teaching style, and many of her students have gone on to successful careers as concert pianists.
