The choir is based in Brisbane, Queensland, and is made up of over 400 young singers aged between 5 and 30 years old. The choir's name, Voices of Birralee, is derived from the suburb of Birralee in Brisbane, where the choir was first established. The choir's mission is to provide young people with the opportunity to develop their musical skills and to experience the joy of singing in a supportive and nurturing environment. Since its inception, Voices of Birralee has become one of Australia's most respected and successful choirs. The choir has performed at numerous prestigious events and venues, both in Australia and overseas. Some of the highlights of the choir's performances include singing at the opening ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, performing at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, and touring internationally to countries such as Canada, the United States, and Europe. In 2018, the choir won the prestigious Australian Choral Grand Prix, which is awarded to the best choir in Australia.
