McFadden's early musical education was heavily influenced by his father, who was a jazz guitarist. He was exposed to a wide range of musical styles, including jazz, blues, and rock, which helped him develop a unique style of playing. However, it was classical music that captured his heart, and he began to focus on mastering the classical guitar. McFadden's talent and dedication to the guitar were evident from an early age. He won his first guitar competition at the age of 14 and went on to win several more competitions throughout his teenage years. After completing his Master of Music degree, McFadden returned to Canada and began to establish himself as a solo performer and music educator.
