Eric Grossman was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a professional pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Grossman showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the piano at the age of four. Grossman's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue music seriously. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly progressed, mastering the works of Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart by the age of eight. He also showed an interest in composing his own music, and his parents encouraged him to explore this passion. At the age of ten, Grossman was accepted into the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division, where he studied with renowned pianist Yoheved Kaplinsky. He continued to excel in his studies, winning numerous competitions and awards, including the Juilliard Pre-College Concerto Competition and the New York State Music Teachers Association Piano Competition. Grossman's talent and dedication to music led him to pursue a career as a concert pianist. He attended the Juilliard School for his undergraduate degree, studying with Robert McDonald and Jerome Lowenthal. He also studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where he earned his Master of Music degree. Throughout his studies, Grossman continued to win awards and accolades for his performances. He was a finalist in the 2007 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and won the 2008 Hilton Head International Piano Competition. He also performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and the Cleveland Orchestra. Grossman's performances were praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. He was known for his ability to bring out the nuances and subtleties of the music, creating a powerful and moving experience for his audiences. His repertoire included works by a wide range of composers, from Bach and Beethoven to Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Grossman was also an active chamber musician. Grossman's career was tragically cut short when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2012.
